SINTEL 2011-2012 GUIDE
2010 was not a particularly good year for the players in our market, including
operators, as growth in the mobile phone market really decreased throughout
the world. In developed countries the market reached saturation levels with an
average of 116 subscriptions per 100 inhabitants.
The most significant event was the appearance of new opportunities linked to
the Smartphone era, together with the associated services, with even more
offers of content and even more access to social networks, nearly everywhere
and nearly all the time. At the end of 2010, the result is that we have 5.5 billion
mobile phone subscribers throughout the world, 20% of which are subscribed to
3G. An extraordinary number of terminals, which, if properly addressed, will
without a shadow of doubt become an unmatchable potential source of business
and revenue.
We just have to find the "killer" application that will win the jackpot. The
application that will really know how to generate value-added traffic, and which
will at the same time be one of the users' favorite applications. So far there's
nothing on the radar. E-mail continues its daily round, social networks consume
bandwidth, video is dragging its feet without anything much happening.
When you know that more than 6 billion SMSs are sent per day in the world,
generating sales of more than 10,000 euros per second, it makes you wonder…
So where will IT businesses find growth in 2011? Everything is still open. The
battle is declared, the field is global and the keyword for success is certainly
innovation. One thing that is certain is that the winners must create unique
applications and innovative services, firstly for businesses, in the industry or
financial services, health or energy sectors, the medias or the computer industry.
At Sintel we nurture innovation, we will know how to help you become the
winner! And our first innovation this year is our "Special Operators" section that
we have inserted at the back of this guide…
